2021 End of Year Letter to Our Members

Published December 15, 2021

As we come to the close of another year, I have been reflecting how 2021 was all about adapting and trying new things. I am proud of how Neighborhood Credit Union has evolved this year, and I am excited for more things to come.

New Technology

New technology is always at the top of our list as we grow, and this year was no different. As you have noticed at your local branch, we now have interactive teller machines (ITMs) at most of our locations. ITMs allow members to complete most branch transactions 24 hours a day, with the added convenience of speaking to a live teller during business hours.

We also added a new digital employee to our call center this year. Nick, our digital assistant, allows you to handle routine questions without waiting on hold and frees our Member Service Representatives to assist members with more complex requests. This modern technology was a big step for Neighborhood CU to handle more volume as we grow.

The most innovative of our new digital offerings is the ClickSwitch platform. This tool allows all members to easily and quickly change direct deposits and automatic payments that are tied to their checking accounts. Change your Netflix, mortgage, and utility payments over to your Neighborhood CU account all in the same place.

New [Old] Branches

We are also making changes to our branch network to better serve some of our most loyal communities, such as breaking ground on a brand-new building in Waxahachie this summer. Since our Waxahachie membership has outgrown the current location, we are excited to give the community a larger, high-tech branch.

As some of you will remember, our former headquarters and main branch was directly down the street from the Main Dallas Post Office in Oak Cliff. I am thrilled that we will be reopening our Oak Cliff branch at nearly the exact same location as our original one. The neighborhood may have changed over the years, but you can still see the postal trucks when you look down the street. Our history is especially important to us; being able to return to our roots, serve our most loyal members, and welcome brand-new members all from one location is beyond exciting.

Progress

The pandemic has changed our habits in many areas of our life, and banking is no exception. The adoption of our digital and remote services increased exponentially as more members discovered the outstanding abilities of our award-winning mobile app and as we introduced more ITMs at the branches.

We continuously analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the services we offer, and we concluded in-person branch hours on Saturdays are no longer the most effective option for our membership. As the adoption and usage of our new ITM machines has skyrocketed the need for a fully staffed branch on Saturday is not economical. I am pleased by the progress these metrics show and look forward to the evolution of our convenience services.

Thank you for your loyal support in 2021. We have been busy this year and it’s been great to share all the exciting highlights with you. May you and your family have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy, healthy new year.

Sincerely,

Chet Kimmell
