Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have some extra money that you don’t plan on using anytime soon? A Certificate of Deposit is a secure place for you to grow your money knowing you’ll be earning more interest than you would with a normal savings account.
How do I know if a CD is for me?
A Certificate of Deposit, commonly known as a CD, is logical for people of all ages who want to enjoy higher returns on cash they don’t plan on immediately using without the added risks. You are agreeing to keep your money in the CD for a set period of time facing interest penalties if you withdraw before your term is up.
What happens to my CD at maturity?
When you reach your maturity date, you have a 10 day window to do one three things: 1.) Change the term. 2.) Make additional deposits or withdraw fund. 3.) Close the CD. If you reach the maturity date and don’t make any changes or withdrawals, your CD will automatically renew into the same system.
Are there penalties for early withdrawals?
Yes, we may impose a penalty if you withdraw before the maturity date. For certificates with terms of 1 year or less, the penalty is 180 days of interest. Certificates with terms of more than 1 year, the penalty is 365 days of interest. Please see the Truth-in-Savings Disclosure.
Can I make additional deposits to my CD?
You can make additional deposits of at least $25 with our Online Savings CD and FlexPlus CD. Keep in mind that additional deposits to the Online Savings CD must be done online or over with phone with a member service representative.
When are dividends posted to my CD?
Interest on all certificates are credited at the end of each month.
How do I open a certificate?
Opening a CD is simple! You can simply apply online or step inside one of our branch locations.
