A Letter from the CEO April 2021

Dear Valued Member, 
 
This April Neighborhood Credit Union celebrated 91 years and as an organization we took time to reflect on all the new and exciting things we accomplished this past year.. While we have introduced new technology, new products, and grown into new communities, the one thing that has not changed over 91 years is our dedication to you, our members. 

You may have met the newest member of the Neighborhood family, Nick! Nick is our intelligent virtual assistant who can help you find answers to service-related questions quickly and easily when you call us. We are very excited to be able to offer more personal service 24 hours a day.  

We also have a new account switch platform that helps you set up or move your direct deposit and automatic payments to Neighborhood CU easily through one online portal. I know the biggest hassle of changing accounts is moving everything that is connected to that account, so our team has found a solution to make it effortless for you.

I do want to make our members aware of some phone number spoofing scams we have seen on the rise over the past few months. Unfortunately, there are scammers pretending to be from Neighborhood Credit Union or another financial institution that attempt to covertly convince you to give them access to your online banking and then make multiple person-to-person payments to themselves. Please know that we will never call you and then ask you to verify any access codes or any personal information. If you feel uncomfortable or something seems suspicious, please hang up and call us directly. Your safety is our priority.

  
We also had a great loss to our Neighborhood CU family this month. Our former CEO & Board member, Calvin Phillips, passed away on April 9th at the age of 92. Mr. Phillips served as our CEO for 30 years (1958-1988) and was a pioneer in the credit union movement. I’m sure many of our long-time members worked with Calvin, but you may not have known all of his great career accomplishments. Personally, he was a good friend and mentor, and I truly appreciate the great legacy he left us. 

April was a busy month at the credit union, and we are continually working to solve problems and be the very best for you. As always, I appreciate your membership and the opportunity to serve you and your family’s financial needs. Have a wonderful May!
