A Message From the CEO

2020 will always be a year to remember. I was planning to commemorate Neighborhood Credit Union’s 90th birthday with a grand in-person celebration, but the ongoing pandemic changed everything. Our membership has been in my prayers a lot this year, and I hope you and your families have stayed safe and healthy.

Our efforts to keep our members and employees safe have required some flexibility and support on your part, and I sincerely appreciate your loyalty and cooperation with those temporary changes. It is times like these that make me proud of our organization and the relationships that make us more than just a financial institution.

Neighborhood Credit Union was born during the Great Depression, thrived following the Great Recession, and continues to be a strong credit union even after 90 years. I am proud that Neighborhood CU has not had to conduct layoffs or furloughs during this tough economic time. The strength of our organization, our members, and the dedication of our employees have kept us going this year.

Neighborhood CU has also been able to celebrate big milestones and exciting new things in 2020. This summer we opened branches in the cities of Anna and Prosper. We started a new non-profit called the Neighborhood CU Foundation, which focuses on helping Texans attain financial prosperity through education and guidance. And we expanded our suite of digital services to include Zelle, mobile wallets, and advanced controls for your debit and credit cards. Our teams did not let COVID-19 slow them down!

Like the rest of our community we have had hard times this year. We lost one of our most beloved and joyful employees, Nyron Harding, this year. Nyron made a big impact on everyone at the credit union, both employees and members alike. Our long-time Board member, Dwain Woodard, also passed away this year. Dwain’s dedication to our mission and passion for people were obvious to all who knew him. Both Nyron and Dwain are greatly missed.

I am very grateful for your loyalty and trust this year. Regardless of the pandemic, our members did more business with us this year than ever. I appreciate the opportunity to serve you and your family’s financial needs. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your year and a happy 2021! Stay safe.

 Sincerely,
