Neighborhood Credit Union Presents the 2026 Emerging Artist Scholarship Recipients
RICHARDSON, TX (April 3, 2026) — Neighborhood Credit Union is proud to support the Cottonwood Art Festival Emerging Artist Program, an initiative that recognizes outstanding student artists from Richardson ISD and provides meaningful opportunities to showcase their work within a professional fine arts environment.
Through this partnership, selected high school students are given the opportunity to exhibit their artwork in a month-long showcase at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts, followed by the opportunity to display and sell their work at the Cottonwood Art Festival on May 2–3, 2026, alongside established professional artists. The program is designed to elevate young artists by connecting them with experienced creatives and providing a platform to share their work with the broader community.
As part of this year’s program, five students were recognized for their exceptional work and awarded scholarships funded by Neighborhood Credit Union. Banner Roby received Best of Show and a $750 scholarship; Mako Weathers was awarded Second Place and a $500 scholarship; Leira Myers earned Third Place and a $300 scholarship; and Honorable Mentions were awarded to Elia Villasenor and Lana Wong, each receiving $250 scholarships.
Rebecca McKenna, Richardson Branch Manager at Neighborhood Credit Union, spoke during the award presentation, emphasizing the importance of supporting young artists and investing in their future. “Moments like this reflect the heart of who we are—investing in people, supporting dreams, and strengthening our community,” McKenna said. “Art has a unique power. It challenges us, connects us, and opens doors to new ways of thinking.”
She also encouraged students to continue pursuing their creativity with confidence. “To every student here tonight, this moment matters,” McKenna said. “It’s not only a recognition of your talent, but a vote of confidence in who you are and what you’re capable of becoming.”
Neighborhood Credit Union has supported the Emerging Artist Program for more than a decade, reinforcing its commitment to education, creativity, and community impact. By investing in programs like this, the credit union continues to help create meaningful opportunities for the next generation.
