Neighborhood Credit Union Presents Children's Health with $60,000

DALLAS, Texas—A small donation can go a long way. Neighborhood Credit Union leaders saw that firsthand when they presented Children’s HealthSM with a check for $60,000 as a result of its Skip-A-Payment program.

Neighborhood CU allows its members to skip a loan payment during the holidays in return for a small donation. The money raised from the Skip-A-Payment campaign is donated directly to Children’s Health.

Children’s Health officials took Neighborhood CU leaders on a tour of hospital facilities to show how donations are used to help accommodate patients and their families. From innovative technological advancements that help patients track diabetes to the newly-renovated pediatric ICU, Children’s Health does whatever it can to help their patients feel comfortable.

“I was blown away at all the advancements Children’s Health has made over the past few years,” said Carolyn Jordan, senior vice president of Neighborhood Credit Union. “Seeing how hard the staff works to help these kids feel at home is truly an incredible feeling.”

Children’s Health has made strides in telemedicine and telehealth making it easier for providers and families to consult with each other to make quick and effective treatment decisions.

Telehealth helps diagnose children who get sick at school so parents don’t have to leave work to schedule a doctor’s appointment for their child. With the parent’s permission, the school nurse can connect with a Children’s Health doctor or nurse to diagnose the child and have a prescription sent to the family’s pharmacy.

“I’m extremely proud that our members have allowed us to generously donate and help support Children’s Health each year,” Jordan said.
