Black History Month is celebrated from February 1 - 28. The Mesquite Arts Council has created a playlist on the Mesquite Arts Center YouTube channel that celebrates artists of color. In 2020, we created this playlist and continue to add to it throughout the years that it exists. Remember you can stream anytime.

Dallas, Texas - The Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center is proud to announce the extension of our exhibits in honor of Black History Month. Inside the Brigadier General Charles McGee and Don Hinz Theater, we will be showing a short film on the half hour that highlights the struggles and determination of the Tuskegee Airmen. The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of primarily Black military pilots and airmen who fought in World War II. Along with the film, there is an exhibit dedicated to the life of Brigadier General Charles McGee. Displays are available to the public- and for school tours, beginning on the first day of February and continuing throughout Black History Month.

This motorcoach tour will cover and visit the early life of African American history and culture of Far North Dallas. Historic churches, cemeteries, historical sites, communities, and more.
 
Guest will be guided by George Keaton, Jr., Ph.D. a 5th generation descendant of the far North Dallas Area. You will experience the undocumented personal history of this unique segment of Dallas' African-American history from pre-reconstruction to the mid-1960s. All ethnic groups are welcomed.

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history.

The 2022 MLK Black History Month Celebration is a two-part event, a virtual celebration of the unsung artist, Arthello Beck, Jr., and a drive-through giveaway for the community.

Watch the virtual event on Friday, February 11, at noon, celebrating the life of artist Arthello Beck, Jr. Visit the MLK Branch Library and the South Dallas Cultural Center for a look at some of his original artwork, which will be display through the month of February. The link to watch will be available at http://www.DallasMLKCenter.com.

Attend a free drive-through giveaway on Saturday, February 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and get a free food box, hygiene supplies, cleaning products, informational resources, and more.
