Online Best Security Practices

  • Install real-time antivirus and antispyware and allow for automatic scanning and updates.
  • Install security updates to the operating system and all applications as they become available.
  • Install a firewall and secure wireless networks.
  • Do not open attachments or click on links contained in emails received from unfamiliar sources.
  • Use strong passwords and avoid common answers such as pet names and birthdates.
  • Do not use computers accessible to the public to conduct transactions online.
  • Log out of online banking when you finished with your session.
  • Consider using a bootable operating system when conducting transactions online configured with only the service and applications needed to perform financial transactions. Any malware that exists on the computer would not impact the user using the bootable flash drive.
  • Neighborhood Credit Union will never contact our members requesting account information via phone, email, or text message.
