  • Do not respond to text messages requesting personal information, such as social security numbers, credit/debit/ATM card numbers, pin number, and account numbers.
  • Do not open attachments or click on links contained in emails received from unfamiliar sources.
  • If you purchase a used or refurbished phone, check it for pre-loaded malware or viruses that can be used to steal your data.
  • Confirm that your Bluetooth technology is set to a high security mode so that you must approve any connections or downloads before they are made.
  • Always disable your phone’s Bluetooth function when it is not in use.
  • Do not automatically connect to Wifi networks and do not bank on public networks.
  • Neighborhood Credit Union will never contact our members requesting account information via phone, email, or text message.
