Proud to Support Highland Village PD and Honor Fallen Officers
Neighborhood Credit Union recently had the opportunity and honor to partner with the Highland Village Police Department to help support their TXFallenPD Tribute Event 2019.
According to the Highland Village Police Department’s website, an officer is killed in the line of duty every 59 hours. The TXFallenPD Tribute Event started in 2008 as a police bike race to honor the lives of Texas officers killed in the line of duty and have since raised over $200,000 for the Fallen Officer Fund.

The event has grown into a community fundraiser that benefits the Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Foundation, which provides monetary assistance to the families of Texas officers killed in the line of duty. TXFallenPD takes place at The Shops at Highland Village and activities include a 5K run, civilian bike race, police bike race, and a police obstacle course. There is entertainment and live music, demonstrations, a kid’s zone, food, and drinks throughout the day.
“I am thrilled that Neighborhood CU is donating to the #TXFallenPD Foundation is because I come from a law enforcement family,” said Meghann Tungate, member services coordinator at the Highland Village branch. “My grandfather, father, and stepmother have all retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and my sister and brother are both currently officers in Tennessee. I hear their stories, I know how difficult (and rewarding) their job is, and I’ve heard their pain when they lose one of their LEO brothers or sisters.”

Neighborhood CU in the Community
Our police officers do so much for us every single day, so we are extremely honored and excited to help give back and support them.
“It’s because of sponsors like Neighborhood Credit Union that we are able to raise money for The Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Fallen Officer Foundation,” the Highland Village Police Department said in a recent Facebook post.
TXFallenPD will be held on Saturday, October 19th from 2:30 to 9:00 p.m. at The Shops at Highland Village. Come out to this family friendly event to help the Highland Village PD reach their goal of raising $35,000 this year! Admission is free and the 5K Run/Walk or Bike Race/Ride is $30 if you register before October 1st. Check out the full schedule of events or visit the TXFallenPD event page here for more information.
“#TXFallenPD does something truly incredible when they gift $5,000 to a LEO family within 24 hours of their loss,” Tungate said. “During the family’s time of grieving, they do not have to worry about their finances, the #TXFallenPD Foundation comes in to help. #TXFallenPD Foundation is a blessing to LEOs and their families.”
